Ren Trankiem
After graduating from UC Berkeley in 2023 with a B.A. in Public Health, Ren Trankiem is applying to medical school in the United States. She recently worked as a Medical Assistant at Heights Pediatrics in Brooklyn Heights and as a Patient Care Associate at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) in Manhattan and the Bronx. Ren is passionate about the intersection of public health and medicine, particularly in patient education and preventive healthcare measures.
As a Vietnamese-American who grew up in Southern California, she became well acquainted with Asian American perspectives on mental health. Within her Vietnamese scouting organization, Ren recognized and spoke about the taboo surrounding mental health with her Vietnamese-American peers and parents of the Vietnamese scouting community. At SPEAK, she hopes to apply her attention to detail and healthcare experience to advance SPEAK's growing scope and mission.
